Claire was joined by a group of professionals in the areas of neuroscience, psychology, and justice to discuss the challenges survivors of domestic violence face when navigating the justice system. The event, which was organised in collaboration with Women’s Aid, was billed as “a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the issues at hand and the collaborative efforts to support survivors.” Claire commented; “I was delighted to be invited to contribute to the NI Science Festival’s panel discussion on the area of trauma. As a family lawyer, I firmly believe that recognising the impact of trauma in our Family Courts is crucial for ensuring fair and just outcomes for those navigating the legal system and particularly for survivors of domestic violence. I really enjoyed the opportunity to engage with a wealth of expertise in this area and to advocate for more empathetic and trauma-informed approaches within our Family Courts.” For advice and assistance on any area of family law, Claire can be contacted via email on cedgar@fhanna.co.uk or by calling 028 9024 3901
