Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) is an independent, national organisation of lawyers who provide specialist legal advice for older clients, their families and carers. Some may be vulnerable adults, but many simply need particular guidance as they plan for the later stages of life. Members cover advice in many areas of law tailored to clients needs, including Wills, Powers of Attorney, Living Wills, Trusts, Probate, Care funding, along with matters involving the Office of Care & Protection and elder abuse. Linda has been a longstanding member of Solicitors for the Elderly and in fact was the organisation’s first NI member after joining in 2002 Since its inception, Solicitors for the Elderly has established an excellent reputation as a specialist group giving the highest quality of legal advice for older and vulnerable clients. Whilst all members focus in older client law, what sets SFE members apart from other lawyers is their specialist client care skills enabling them to support older and more vulnerable clients, their families and carers. SFE members spend a substantial amount of time working with older and vulnerable clients and in turn build up trust-based relationships that ultimately make a substantial difference to the older client’s experience. SFE was keenly aware that as professionals, there was a need for members to uphold the various standards set by the Solicitor’s Regulatory Bodies and other professional and training bodies. As such, the organisation developed the Older Client Care in Practice (OCCP) Award. The Older Client Care in Practice (OCCP) Award is an externally assessed accreditation which awards a unique qualification to SFE members who successfully complete an assessment process focussed on the skills required to enable a professional to work with older and vulnerable people A legal practitioner accredited with the Older Client Care in Practice (OCCP) Award, has successfully completed an assessment and displayed the following skill set:- As an established member of SFE who has been accredited with the Older Client Care in Practice (OCCP) Award, Linda has the experience and expertise to provide a bespoke service to older and vulnerable clients along with the ability to communicate and translate this expertise clearly and sensitively.
