In one such case we were instructed in involved a gentleman who was sexually abused between the age of 10-17 years old whilst an altar boy within the Church.  Like many cases of this nature, our client suffered abuse over a sustained period of time and remained silent, having been threatened about the effect that any report could have on his family, the Church and the offending priest.  

Following the abuse coming to light, our client successfully argued that he was failed by Catholic Church and that steps were not taken to remove the offending priest from the Diocese and therefore prevent further abuse occurring to others.  Our client went on to report the matter to police and received counselling.
