At Francis Hanna & Co we have a vast experience in dealing with claims on behalf of victims of pleural plaques caused following exposure to asbestos. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with pleural plaques, please contact us immediately.
Asbestos related pleural plaque or plaques is a lung condition caused by inhaling asbestos fibres into the lungs causing localised areas of thickening usually to the outer layer of the lungs lining the chest cavity. They are the most common type of asbestos related injury. Usually they do not cause any symptoms although in unusually severe cases they can cause pain and shortness of breath.
Asbestos pleural plaques is proof of exposure to asbestos fibres and, whilst the condition itself is not normally disabling, it is an indicator of the increased risk of suffering one of the other asbestos related diseases, i.e. mesothelioma, asbestos related lung cancer, asbestosis and asbestos related pleural thickening.
Asbestos related pleural plaques usually develop 20 years or more from exposure to asbestos fibres.
If you or a family member has been diagnosed with pleural plaques, you are entitled to compensation. In England and Wales pleural plaques is not a compensatable condition whereas in Northern Ireland it is since January 2012.
We have been dealing with pleural plaques cases since the 1960’s when the founder of our firm, Francis Hanna took the very first cases in the United Kingdom. Since then we have helped thousands of clients successfully pursue claims for pleural plaques and every other asbestos related condition.
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with pleural plaques, please contact us immediately. As soon as we receive your instructions, we will immediately investigate which employer and at which workplace did exposure to asbestos take place. Given that we have been dealing with these claims for literally decades we are aware of the vast majority of workplaces that exposed workers to asbestos in Northern Ireland. We have also built up a database of the identity of the insurers of these employers over the last 50 years or so.
We will work in your best interests giving you specialist legal advice, backed by many years of experience in supporting victims of every asbestos related condition and their families. We will provide help if you need it from solicitors in our other departments, such as financial planning, personal injury trusts, wills advice and powers of attorney.
